I've never understood why people want Ksyrium's anyway. They're not particularly light' date=' not particularly aero and not particularly cheap.

that means their marketing department is doing their job.

The same as Kempekker with 11 speed ..........Wink

Correct. And believe me, there are no such thing as "sneaked out" or "spy" photos. It's done on purpose to get the public "hungry" fro the new stuff.

And Specialized's new Epic - I reckon they not admitting there was anything wrong with the old one but just not selling enough of them anymore so they come out with something different and create the hype ala 'Saucer' at the WC XC all over ..........

there is always something "wrong" with products. Otherwise they would not need to update/improve/replace it and no more sales.

I respectfully disagree. I have never seen a bike company admit there was something wrong with their previous product (like Shimano with their doomed Octalink). The new one is always stiffer, lighter, better. That's all....it's all in your interest.

The only bike product that I know that's perfect and has not been changed for over fifteen years is the Cateye Cyclosimulator. It's good, has always been good and doesn't need continuous ligther, stiffer, better carbon parts.

I expected to hear more experiences and inspection conclusions. I think I will stick to my Mavic, using new pawls and small springs.

It looks that it was only me to have such a bad krash, caused by wheel.

Friend of mine almost got killed at 2006 'Shova when his American Classic 420's did exactly the same thing. He got up to power over the crest of a climb when all of a sudden there was no drive....... and he spend a couple of days not walking like he normaly does.

The Mavic Ksyrium story is not yet over !

 <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Yesterday I received a Mavic Pawls kit, ( Part No M40578BISA ).

Genuine package, factory sealed.

It contains TWO PAWLS and FOUR springs ?????

Why Four springs ????

So far, I open two Mavic Ksyrium wheels and there is place and space for only one spring per Pawl.

Where is the sicret ???

I think your woes are just about over.

The extra springs are spare. They're so small and cheap that even Mavic can afford to give away a few. If these springs are circular retaining springs, you need only one. If they're they are coil springs and are of the type that sits behind the pawl, you have one spare.

I still don't understand why you have new pawls. Are the old ones damaged? Pawls are incredibly hard and don't easily break. I suspect something else, like too much grease, caused your initial engagement failure.

If you are in Gaberone, go to Gaberone Garage, I trained the entire team and perhaps they can help. I hastily add that we didn't deal specifically with that particular wheel type but all wheels with pawls have the same problems and principles.

I strongly suspect something other than the pawls.
