Hi Hubbers,

The family & I are down in the Strand over December. We are on mob's. Mom & son (10yrs) unfit and new to moving (thus no intermediate / long trails).

I have a few questions:

1) Is it save to ride next to the ocean in the Strand?

2) Can the little one ride on the promenade?
3) Nice easy beginner trails near us?

Thx

The Southeys Vines mtb trail in Somerset West is an easy 3.3km loop that can be lapped.

32 Dummer St, Dorhill, Cape Town, 7130

the Wannabees trails on the farms around Somerset West are easy, and can be linked up to add a lot of mileage. A holiday pass is available.

You can ride next to the beach at the prom, but don't ride when it gets busy.

Re beginner trails: Southy Vines is nice and it is free to ride. There are a lot of skill development ot training obstacles packed into a short, twisty lap.

For more relaxed vineyard / country dirt road rides for beginners, I recommend the Wannabee club trails West of the R44. Start at Somerbosch farm and ride a loop that suits your fitness from there. (Day pass can be bought at Somerbosch)
