Just that first story made me choke up since I have kids I've taught to ride. Couldn't read the rest. Sobering reminder of the reason I will never touch a road bike. Although in saying that, I've heard of some scary incidents on the trails too, but at least then for the most part, it's your fault, and not some careless driver. Be safe out there guys
