Hi all,

Pre covid i used to do a the engen2engen ride starting at the intersection of main and william nicol. Does anyone know if this ride is still going, has the route changed and what speeds are being ridden on which days.

Thank you in advance.

Hey,

Yes they are still happening. They leave at 4:55 sharp from the centre on Grosvenor and William Nicol. It’s about 45km at an average of 30-33km/h. Very strong bunch of riders! I think every day from Tuesday to Friday but Friday is chilled.

Thanks JCZA, so nothing has changed? Is the route still the same...head out on main towards Linden, go past the gardens through greenside, past the zoo, around rosebank, down sandton drive and back onto william nicol

Nothing has changed, group just smaller these days

We're part of a much slower/casual group that ride from Seattle Grosvenor Crossing at 5am and then grab a coffee afterwards 23-27km/h

Thanks for the heads up...i might join you one of these days

Are any of these E2E or S2S rides still happening?

Based in Lonehill. Just got hold of a gravel bike and keen to head out with some of the slowest / no drop groups to see where I fit in pace wise.

The E2E rides are still a thing. The pace varies depending on the day of the week. I have never done the ride so I can't provide any guidance on which day would be ideal for you.

You could also join the Saturday Cycle lab ride. They have a lot of groups that ride at different paces (23km/h to 33km/h).

All the best.

Thanks for the feedback on this Ncayi,

Not sure if you're a part of the Cycle Lab rides and can share stating times or ehatsappg Orup links etc.

If not, hopefully someone else reading this can assist!

Have a good Sunday!

I join the rides from time to time. There are usually "group captains" who usually pace the entire route. They also have marshals who assist at the busy intersection and I believe they also provide support vehicles for the slower groups.

Group start rolling at 06:00 from Cycle Lab and ride to the Caves and back to Cycle Lab. You can get more information on their website regarding the different groups.

There is typically a 4h45 and a 4h55 group leaving from Grosvenor shopping centre from Tues-Fri. Typically slower and more chilled than E2E.
