  1. And thats why I ride a rigid hardtail with AXS 90% of the time
  2. As far as rim brakes go, the vias probably has the shittest brakes I've ever come across
  3. Used bike dealer here, personally, I very very rarely trade in anything over R100k. In that price bracket a buyer doesn't mind dropping an extra R30-50k to buy a brand new bike. Under from R65-90k I've sold plenty
  4. Bargain, if you're looking for a badass hardtail.
  5. Depends very much on your needs, expectations and affordability If you need motivation and a constant pat on the back, regular feedback and advice on nutrition and cross training, get a 1 on 1 coach. I'd recommend The Practice. This will be a premium service If you have what it takes to get the job done and all you need is to ramp it up, then a Zwift program is more than sufficient and already included in your subscription If you're looking for a premium service at a fraction of the cost, head over to trainingpeaks and pick a coach / program. 100s of coaches and programs to choose from to get you prepped for your next event I've had success with all of the above. Started off with Zwift programs, got the results I wanted. Ramped it up with a personal coach, learnt a lot and my cycling reached the level I wanted. Now I know what works for me for where I'm at right now. Currently just maintaining while having fun
  6. I agree, all the good dealers here should at least do the following: Wash the bike Quality check Offer buyer assurance / Limited warranty Safe and reliable transaction Who doesnt do this?
  7. I sell more bikes on Facebook than I do here
  8. I just went through the thread again, just to see what exactly I said to be painted as a supporter of resellers ripping people off.... I highlighted the difference between a reseller and a dealer, the basics of a free market system, the associated risk, the value add, and the fact that these guys don't read the threads or care for the opinions posted here. These are facts, nothing personal @The Ouzoand @NotSoBigBen If anything, I'll apologize for my tone and delivery
  9. PS - The post covid cycling boom is long and gone, just from what I've noticed in sales figures from May 2022
  10. My bru, I'm hated in the threads and loved in the classifieds. I accept it, if anything, I'll more than often be the **** with an alternative view in the spirit of healthy debate. Fortunately, the classifieds pay my bills, and I use that to support my family, pay my bills, support my cycling passion. All this while I sponsor and chair our cycling club and recently registered a foundation to support cyclists with disablities as well as kit for development teams. I've devoted my life to the sport. People will describe me as a that typically ****, until you get to know me better. Don't take me too seriously, I don't.
  11. 104 5 star ratings and that one 4 star kills me everytime I see those stats
  12. I can guarantee you that not a single dealer here cares. It's always the usual small bunch commenting in the forums vs the masses engaging in the classifieds
  13. Plenty dealers out there spending 6 figures on used bikes. "Most likely" is very far from a guarantee
  14. Maybe lazy, but a huge amount of risk. Would you gamble R80k at the chance of maybe making R5-10k in the next 3 weeks?
  15. Suffering from low balling? Bit dramatic, don't you think, I mean, it's a message, just ignore it and move on with your life. I get low balled all day, every day, and not by dealers, but I definitely wouldn't say that I'm suffering. Im actually quite entertained
  16. You get low ball offers, and then you get what a pawn shop would offer you 🤣 A) Lowball the deal? What does that mean, nobody is getting forced here B) Or they know the market value, but are happy to accept trade value and not have their time wasted C) What is true value? Are you referring to market value?
  17. These dealers and resellers are making less in percentage margin than retailers. Small businesses that provide for their families as opposed to large corporations lining investor pockets. Where's the retailer thread?
  18. Nobody will ever agree on an advertised price. These are luxury items, not essential like fuel and food. What some find to be a bargain others find a rip off
  19. Reseller add value when it comes to no frills, no fuss, no time wasting, straight to the point, offer backed by fast reliable payment. Often, thats all a seller wants, hence we will always have resellers here
  20. Yip, bike wash products are crazy expensive. I only use water on my bike with a hose, never a pressure washer. I'll remove components that need degreasing and wash them separately with either dishwashing liquid or ecologic
  21. Probably the most sensible comment here. I find it absurd that anyone feels like they are entitled to a point to dictate the price of someone else's goods. If you're not happy with the price, then don't buy it and if you lost out on a deal because you were faffing about, then you only have yourself to blame. Willing buyer, willing seller
  22. A reseller simply buys a bike on the hub from a seller and the resells it at a profit. A dealer's role is more complex, often the 3rd wheel in a deal. In my case, bike shops contact me for a trade offer, the offer gets worked into the new bike price. The client gets a new bike and was able to trade his old bike in. The shop makes a sale and the dealer gets stock to sell at a profit
  23. We need to distinguish between resellers and dealers
