Not sure where he got his info from that ebikes are a hassle to keep them going.

It's a very lopsided observation built up over a period of time, including reading comments on Bikehub and chatting to owners of e-bikes. I'm not saying it's a true reflection of the facts, only an observation, which, in all likelihood may be wrong.

That being said, I am of the opinion that buying an e-bike is a very costly affair beyond the initial purchase judging by the price of batteries, and when the motor finally conks in. I spoke to a chap recently who owns one, and he was lamenting some chip that got moisture on it shortly after the warranty expired, meaning he had to spend an obscene amount to get it fixed. This, on top of the normal wear and tear expenses of a normal bike, is what leads me to conclude that it seems to be a hassle.

That is my very subjective opinion, and I am not saying I am right.

All good, I have a post on here somewhere about WHY i converted a 26"er to an eBike - but was affordable to do - R20k, considering a 26" alu S Works with great groupo would fetch almost zero money, in the era of 29"ers...!

...after 6 years I recently had a problem with a CONTROLLER surging, so R2.5K - R3k to replace, after some great usage, I SUSPECT the internet forums has valid complaints of people who HAVE experienced problems, whilst many (most?) have few problems, and do not comment on (good) reliability!

Cheers

Chris

Howzit,Β
My wife got one of the above and for what it costs and says on the box it is super value. I will just upgrade the fork to an air fork some time.
The issue is where does one get a spare battery at a reasonable cost?

It gives a range of between 75 and 85 km but we need to go further so I would like to get a second battery. Where to find?

PS so nice to see it does what it says on the box, and having a hub driven motor reduces the group-set ware so win win.

Yes the value wize is super...and recommend to change forkΒ  expecially if the bike is medium or large cause they only use coil suntour fork, except if you bought small size frame cause that one got a better fork...!!

And it's not all about being coil fork even they can't handle the bike weight certain millege you will get those shaking movement from front wheel thinking it's not tight or think that it's a headset/neck hence not...between the upper legs and lower legs on dust wiper that where you will get that movement....and last groupset yes replace it remember it's gonna be one gear lever and derailleur cause is 1by10..go for SRAM or Shimano those A7 it's a cheep components and as the bike still new stay with the chain and CassetteΒ
