what a beaut of day it turned out to be? even got caught out in the afternoon with only a warm track pants to wear post race, didnt think to pack in a shorts.

Yeah, the weather certainly delivered.

I reckon certain portions of that route (thinking 110-120km) would have been... unpleasant... in more damp conditions. Even in the dry they were a challenge on 42mm tyres. And that's before we start talking about that descent off the bottom of Bainskloof 🙈.

 

All in all, it was a nice mix of gravel and tar, Bainskloof was beautiful, and the aid stations were really good (though some extra salt shakers at the latter ones would have been appreciated to dose the potatoes).

I'd recommend putting this one on the calendar for next year.
