  1. No, don't have loved ones there. You will be tempted to climb in the car 🤪🤣
  2. Pack a note from a loved one in the last crate encouraging you to finish.
  3. It takes one rock to bounce up from the bike in front of you and hit the chain + chainring in such a way to just just weaken the link enough that given the right amount of watts latter on the chain would break. I don't care what brand chain you have it is a very plausible (and very unlucky) scenario. An no, removing a chain and putting it back does not weaken or mess with a chain if you use a quick link. It actually cleans easier taking it off. That is pretty basic bike maintenance. I would hesitate putting a new chain on every day yes. I like testing a chain before going racing with it (sometimes you don't have a choice though)
  4. Privileged to have first world problems like these. Soooo much to choose from! The travelling and logistics so close together is a concern though.
  5. I must admit when you get into trouble at 36One it is much easier to get help. There are also no edges where you can fall of the edge of the world and if you don't have a witness then no one can find you. The key factor here is that you know what you doing at TB when solo. You know the course very well etc. I don't think it's about the ability to ride far or skill and fitness even. I once almost saw @milky4130 ride over the edge of a cliff on the downhill. To this day I know exactly where that turn is and my auto pilot slows down already.
  6. Die Repeat naweek is na die Race naweek 😝
  7. This thread does have a silver lining though. I now know I can get 20% off 🤣👌
  8. Same as me... I don't feel they owe me a cent. They did everything they could to even host it the next day to accommodate already incurred event costs, sponsors and their participants. Honestly I was watching the weather all week and it was a very tough call to make and there was no wrong choice there. If they cancelled early I would have lost my accomodation deposit anyway and just think if it turned out to be a beautiful day how many keyboard warriors would be on here. How much discount are you expecting here? If it is the same as entering early then you now at least have the option to look at the weather closer to the time and still pay the "early bird" prise. Again, any discount given is more than they have to I feel.
  9. Okes already saved massive amounts of money not racing in that mud... now they want more discount? 🤣
  10. haha, I still don't have one. But will soon change. The dropper just made sense to me from the start. I'm a tall guy so getting lower helps a lot. I still battle on some of these uphill switchbacks though because of my XL MTB frame. The turning circle is a bit wider haha... that's my story and I am sticking to it 🤪
  11. I remember a few years ago when I spoke about dropper posts everyone laughed at me 🤪
  12. To be fair I also just closed my eyes last time and let it rip...
  13. It always looks worse than what it really is. I have done it with a very similar spec HT to yours. I was slower on the downhill sections but it was perfect for all the climbing this race has. But like @milky4130 said, everyone hurts no matter what you use. If you used to ridding it then it will be fine. Will I choose my HT above my dual? Probably not, but that's just because I am a ballie 🤣
  14. Why am I always the last to know that there is a plan?!
  15. This... one of those race where there is so much downhill single track you start hoping a climb is coming.. and then on the climb you start hoping for more downhill single track 🤣
  16. Jinne that cliffhanger is epic. Don't tell anyone but I stopped at the top the last race to check the view, didn't snap a pic though cause I didn't want any evidence that I stopped... but maybe I will this time round 🤣
  17. Here is the gees: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cv7G8vPKXKX/ @Pure Savage
  18. If we do two laps can we have 2 beers?
  19. Kudos for those making the call to go home. They did announce that if you feel unsafe and you can't see yourself handling a bike in that wind you shouldn't ride. 🤪🤪 Us other mal, adrenalin okes had a jol. Disappointed the wind didn't live up to the hype in the end but hey... was some hard racing and a good day out.
  20. Ahh good times at this event... but with the clash of Boland I'm rather doing Boland.
  21. I'm a bit hazy on details but wasn't there an agreement between CSA and PPA? Maybe I am thinking of something else
  22. Hmmmm, might do what I did for Baviaans then and add a smidge more grease where I can. Maybe a mud guard too.
