is this for Lefty 2.0 or Lefty Ocho?

The 2.0 requires a 1.5 stem and the Ocho takes a std 1&1/8th stem.

Wth the 2.0 you have to be carefulof the stem length, 60mm is the shortest you can fit unless you fit a

Project 123 lefty 4all steerer tube, Leonardi Racing Steerer tube or Darimo Racing Steerer tube

Thanks very much for the reply.

it’s an Ocho fork. Thought if I make the stem a bit shorter it would improve the downhill handling a bit,

maybe but I'd suggest that you couple that with a wider bar.

The Ocho has a 55mm offset which reduces the trail figure. Less trail speeds up the steering which can make it feel a bit nervous with a short stem and narrower bar. If you have the stock bar and have not cut it then it's 760mm wide. You can probably fit a stem as short as 50mm without it getting too sketchy.

I've got a 70mm on my 2018 with 740mm bar. (had to fit a Leonardui racing steerer tube to fit a 70mm stem but I like the overall feel of the bike fit now

A shorter stem will increase the steering responsiveness . This does not necessarily translated into improved handling

well it can indirectly especially if the tru reach is too long. A longer stem pulls the riders forward moving too much weight forward. This can manifest itself in poor steering, front wheel washout rear that's too sensitive. Proper fit between the wheels is the first order of business to allow for proper weighting of the contact patches
