ChrisF Posted August 2, 2022 Share Welcome back Insurance is one of the frequent topics on the Hub. Many of us work via a broker and specify it at an extra to the house hold insurance. Couple of "direct insurers" as well .... even a few options to only insure it for the days you ride .... well worth looking at the "stolen bikes" section. LOTS of theft "from home" !! Do speak to your insurer about "replacement cost". Bicycle insurance is DIFFERENT to car insurance .... It is insured for the current replacement cost .... this often catch people off guard 18 months down the line. Also ask about "wearable insurance". With Santam this is a small monthly amount, but covers my Garmin watch, helmet, etc ... SCARY how quick these add up !! Sadly theft from bike racks on cars are an all too common occurence .... be sure the check what they cover, and what is required from you for a claim in this case.
