I have an entry level bike that I think needs an upgrade in terms of a fork but it is really hard to find a decent straight steerer 29er fork so my only other option is buying an adapter . I have seen these on YouTube but every time I want to go to the link to buy it it does not ship to South Africa , does anyone know where I can get one ?

There is a cane creek headset that may help you. I had similar issue years ago. For me back in the day it was cheaper to buy a new cheap fork than to buy the headset. I think isiko sports are the distributors for cane creek

Does your frame have a 44mm ID head tube?

If so, I have a bottom cup for you. You will need to buy a bearing and race (I may have a race) but I definitely have a bottom cup if you have a 44mm ID.

Otherwise;

I have used both of these and they are both really good products with pretty standard, replaceable bearings.

Be sure to measure the depth of the cup seat in the head tube as well as the diameter.  Most are 9mm and the 44mm cups are usually 13mm deep so some reaming of the tube may be necessary.

If you go this route I have a new headset (Token) if you are interested.  I will have to dig it out to check the dimensions.
