A MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE UNLIKE ANY OTHER THROUGH THE HEART OF THE GREEN KALAHARI

The Trans-Augrabies MTB - 3-Day Stage Race will take riders through the majestic Green Kalahari region of South Africa, following the unique landscapes that make up the Augrabies Falls National Park, the legendary community of Riemvasmaak, and the wild landscapes of Khamkirri - covering more than 227 Kilometers over several types of terrain and expected weather conditions.

Riders and companions will get to discover a region of our country recently rated under the Top Ten Adventure destinations by Rough Guides. A vast and desolate land contrasted by the green and vibrant valley of the mighty Gariep (Orange) River.

It is by no means an easy race, but riders will be rewarded with breathtaking scenery and an authentic regional experience.

Looks tempting! What does the camping setup look like? Is the catered option worth it? Looking to do this one and rough it with the tent solo, so want to travel light

There were a lot of campers this year.

The event tent and caterers are very well set up 👍👍👍

Even a decent bike workshop setup if you should need it.

Making it super easy if you want to go lite with a tent.

When you contact Lani, she will provide you with a layout of the site 👍

Thanks Chris, is the event E-Bike “friendly”, ie. Does the camping sites have electricity to charge batteries?

SIX months to go ....

ENJOY ....

Due to the heavy rains and resulting high river levels in 2022, the Day 3 route was different to previous years.  Similar distance, excellent route ... but no crossing the river.

It is something I am really keen to take on but logistics is an issue for me

It sure is a drive to get there .... think yours is similar to ours from Cape Town.

One day leave either side of the long weekend helps.

Once there, the logistics of this event must be one of the easiest of all stage events.  Even more so for those families where not all take part in the racing.

Sure would be nice to meet you in person Robert 👍

Likewise, I am very keen. I've been wanting to do this event for many years. I love that area, amazing experience I can imagine
