Hi

I need some advice on Road bike tyres. What do you have and what do you recommend? I currently have a set of bontrager R1's 25mm which are getting squarer by the day.
Which are some good mid-range tyres to get? I run tubes, my rims are TLR but not convinced to spend the extra $ to get tubless tyres but a good deal might temp me. Mostly just training rides around Durbanville but I do like to go fast.

how many tubes to you go through on one set of tyres ? not enough to justify the price difference to go tubeless ?

Cyclelab/cwc had GP5000 25 TL going for R800 a piece. Those are the best tyres I've used for cape town, the best RR/Pucture protection ratio I've tried, the Schwalbe pro 1 is a little faster and lighter but punctures a little too easily. Both are easy to fit.

With tubes I wouldn't run anything else than gatorskins because every other brand I've tried I have to replace a tube every 150km

Having been a staunch Conti fan - I decided to try Pirelli.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the Pirelli Sport 7's

Rolls nicely for the price - will try the softer compound in Summer

In about 5000 km's I only had one puncture (Touch wood). That's partly why I haven't gone tubeless. On the mountain bike it's a different story, went tubeless within a week :D
