CAAD Owners advice (Bb30)

How bad is pressfit, or at least how bad are Cannondale alu frames with the bb30 creak? 

I'm toying with an opportunity to swap my bike for a CAAD12, which will suit me better in terms of use, gearing etc. 

Ive only read bad things about pressfit, and only have experience of threaded GXP, hollowtech, regular fsa megaexo, and that dreaded FSA bb4000 19mm setup that consumes a BB every 15 seconds.

Am I making a mistake moving from a threaded GXP to a pressfit bb30 bike, albeit with better components, or am I making way too much of this? Is it more the carbon frames that are a pain

BB30 should not be an issue for you if installed and maintained correctly. Some may also argue that the longevity of the bearings is not great due to the decrease in size when compared to other bb standards.

I have two PF30 BB30 frames. Both BB’s are roughly 2 years old and still running perfectly smooth with no creaks.

 

Like most things, if they are looked after, they will last.

What should you do to look after these press.fit bearings ?  

 

 

I have an older CAAD on my trainer.  So far so good ....

1. Make sure they are fitted properly with sufficient grease on cup and frame, wipe excess grease after to avoid contamination. 
2. Keep your bike clean without aggressive cleaners, especially near bearings. 
3. Take out the crank and wipe excess dirt every so often and regressed spindle.

Ive watched a few videos and see two big points are ensuring the bb isn't forced against the lip on install, and to apply loctite (I think 641). 

Now to decide whether to stick with my cx bike, or go for the caad

You also get BB30 BBs from Wheels Manufacturing that thread into each other internally, making it easier to maintain if you don't have a press.
