LazyTrailRider Posted July 26, 2023 Share My 2023 Levo SL's matte paint is thinner than rice paper and it got scratched from a bit of mud already, so I've been shopping around for something to protect it going forward, but also to cover the scratches it's picked up with only 100km on the clock 🤦♂️ I was considering getting a complete colour change wrap from Armour Ride (around R6k), but decided to try an AMS kit with some graphics in it first, I don't necessarily want to obscure all of the lovely paint I've already paid for. Strangely, the exact same colour matte on my 2022 Stumpy Evo was much tougher. ChrisF and Me rida my bicycle
Jensie Posted July 26, 2023 Share Okay so I went the cheap route on my "new" MTB. I purchased stone chip a while back that is used on cars. It comes in rolls, think I paid then +-R250 p/meter. Measured the areas I wanted to apply (not all of the bike) cut out said pieces and tested before applying. Made sure area was super clean and just applied, where corners and bumps and difficult areas was present I used a razor blade to trim correctly. So far it is holding up nicely but only on for 3 rides. It is not a quick job but you save a lot. Still have plenty left for other bikes or areas as I go on. If you've got the patience and skill to apply that stuff it's definitely the cheapest way to go. Can look pretty agricultural unless you take your time and measure everything up properly, but if done right it's solid.
