Just went through the process this morning:
CycleSure quoted R560 to insure a R100k bike (with PPA "discount").

Naked quoted R281.

An update: naked want a receipt or valuation certificate. Given my bike has been upgraded about 15 times, a receipt won’t cut it, so will need to take it to my LBS to get it all valued

I insure with Santam. I have both bikes on the policy. I've had a couple of claims for damage (smashed derailleur, wrecked wheel, damaged fork) and no claims have been rejected.

My approach is to never turn off the insurance 😂. Also, my experience with the app has been far more streamlined than dealing with a broker.

Come claim time I want a broker on my side ..... I have seen how claims (with SANTAM) goes sideways when there is no broker.

Also, a good broker knows you and your needs, and points out the important stuff at policy renewal.

Same with SANTAM.

Was the same with a 4x4.  You needed some valuation certificate, or receipts, to get cover for the extras.

PS - you should get a similar quote from Santam, as the lower premium.  (though this may be impacted by your total package and claims record).  I pay R269 for R120k cover at Santam (this is my new premium after their recent increase)

King Price... R1 simply unbeatable

And I claimed for my R1 bicycle when I was bikejacked a few years back.

They paid the insured amount into my account within three days, and I could go and buy the bike I wanted. A few weeks later someone rode into the back of my new bike, breaking the rear derailer. Again got paid out in cash after giving them a replacement quote from my LBS.
