Road Cycle - CT to St Helena - advice ?

Recommended Posts

The old back road to St Helena bay that used to be gravel has also been fully tarred to give you an alternative route in as well

Thanks for all the ideas guys !

It was very misty the morning when I started, which had me worried re safety, so I avoided the R27 - and I got a lift to Malmesbury where the mist was starting to clear.

Decided to use my MTB because of unknown road/shoulder conditions on suggested routes.

I went Malmesbury - Hopefield - Vredenburg - St Helena (last bit on the old gravel/newly tarred road)

It was a bit shorter than I was hoping for, but I found the road fairly quiet, and the shoulder was good all the way.

Definitely will do this route on a road bike next time.  The last Vredenburg/St Helena piece was stop and go because of water drainage channels under construction etc. but no problem on the MTB because I rode in the closed lane.
