Hi guys,

perhaps this has been answered already, but this forum is so huge, forgive me for double posting.

How many times do you need to cycle to keep your cycling fitness on the same level? Been focusing on running, cardio and power lately, but was disappointed how hard it was to do a simple 28k ride last Saturday.

Already canceled my red wine for the rest of the month, since I want to race in Stellenbosch in August. LOL

If youwant to keep fit on the same level then you need to train at the same level. If youslack just a bit you will start loosing fitness. But it's winter, just keep your legs turning and watch your wait and you will be okay.

I see you are at sea level = 0 at the moment, so keeping that level will be easy!!

Welcome to the hub.

They usually say rather 3-4 short rides a week than 2 longer rides...

It's not really about how many times you cycle but more about what you do when you cycle....going balls to the wall 7 days a week is not going to do you as much good as a moderate workout 4 times a week.

Stange as it sounds fitness comes from rest as opposed to effort.

Thanks guys for the quick reply.

In August, September and October I still have some running races planned, but after that, I want to focus more on my mountain biking. Have got to do at least once in my life the Argus!

Don't take this the wrong way but if you are finding it difficult to do a 28km ride I don't think you want to keep your fitness on the same level but would rather want to improve it.

Get a goal and ask Delgado (PM him) to work you out a program which if you stick to you will achieve. You will also note in the fitness programs that there is not much Red Zone activity but more green and yellow.
