For those interested in bikepacking, I am starting the Trans Balkan Race/Ride tomorrow morning and is the only Saffa entry this year. It runs from the south of Slovenia along the Dinaric Alps through Croatia and Bosnia and finishes in Montenegro. Distance is 1,400 km with 27,000 m of climbing. I am not the strongest rider around and hope to finish within the 10 days cut off. The ride follows a compulsory GPX route and is fully self supported with 2 check points at 432km and 1,052km. I have a Instagram page where I will post a few photos and videos as I go along, feel free to follow.

Good luck Eddie! Sounds like it should be an awesome route. Would love to hear afterwards based on your experience whether you feel it could be done as a bike packing holiday trip.

After checking out their website it looks like the route is more mtb suitable than gravel bike. Looking forward to hearing more once you're finished 💪

I live in Montenegro for 5 months every year. The Balkans is easily the most unspoilt, underrated, cheap, uncrowded cycling area in Europe. Quite remarkable how the sheeple will trek off to the Pyrenees and Alps every year to be ripped off and cycle in crowds - but hey the instagram pics.
