What do you guys know about these? Are they good? Would it be worth spending a couple more rands on this over say a Giant or Scott or any of the other brands available locally? Seems that their bottom of the range MTB Aim weighs in at around 12kgs.

Also seems that kit on the Bikes are better than average.

Friend of mine used to import them a few years back

they seemed like really good quality bikes!I would stick to local brands with good back up service , nothing worse than importing a bike and things go wrong with no importers in SA to sort problem s out!!

From info I have, it seems only the kids range and the low end stuff like the AIM, LTD CLS Comp, Travel and Town Bikes are made in Asia. Seems like the rest are made in Germany.

We did a trip through Europe in June, my one travel buddy got his bike stolen in Amsterdam the day before the trip actually started. We ran out of time and was forced to buy a CUBE second hand from one of the shops, 10 000ZAR's later... XT through out, dont know the model but I can tell you that the bike was much lighter than my Merida!

Heres what we found, when we received the bike from the shop it was in SERIOUS need of a full service but we did not have the time. Then continued to put 3200km's on before returning to SA. The bike handled the tour just fine! and we hit some fairly 5h!tty terrain. I like the bike. Although the disc pads cost him in the region of R500 to replace, dont think they are standard here but he got it never the less.

All that you described actually got nothing to do with the brand "Cube" It's all the moving parts that can be found on any bike anywhere in the world. A frame will never need a service, there is nothing to service on it.

As far as I am aware the groupo and all stuff on the bike is pretty much available here. So in terms of repair what would be the items that would be bike specifc?
