i've got a couple of guys interested in helping us out - with 2 of them saying "no payment needed" (one of those is "tentative" but very keen - he enjoyed our december ride)

Looks like we will have a Metro bike escort again.  Just got the confirmation mail, will sort out when I am in SA

and the head marshal i asked says he sees no prob in making this an official marshalling event again (ie the guys will get points for helping us) and says we might be able to rustle up a couple on a no-charge basis and we can try convince the others to view their petrol as donations to the cause... but no promises on that...
