Shimano 105 RD-5700 not working with a 28t 10 speed cassette

I've currently just bolted it on the bike, however when i was adjusting the Upper limit, I attempted to push the derailleur all the way over to line it up with the last gear of the cassette and I was surprised to fine the first jockey wheel hitting the  gear. I checked the documentation for the derailleur and it says that it can accomodate a 28t as a maximum size. I have yet to set up the shifters and chain. Do you think this problem will resolve itself once the derailleur is under chain tension?

My wife had 30 tooth with Ultegra (10 spd) short case derailleur that worked. It did work better with chain in big chainring (more tension on derailleur).

Use a quick-link on the chain to check if it will work. (or a piece of wire/cabletie if you don't have one)

Adjust your limit screw inwards to push it away from the cassette.

Once you have the chain on it'll sort itself out. Max capacity of that RD is 30t.

With the chain on you may have to tweek the B limit screw to give the optimal clearance between the biggest cog and the top pulley wheel.
