Granted it's not exactly new news, but I'm totally over the way negative / doping threads are currently dominating the Hub.... So, in a positive light...

......has been talk in the World Cup paddock since Andorra, but it was

recently officially announced that South African rider Greg Minnaar has

been formally appointed to the UCI Mountain Bike Commission,

effectively as the gravity riders' representative.

"This is a big honour for me and for Africa. Mountain biking has

always been a very international sport and I'm glad the UCI appointed

someone from outside Europe. I look forward to working with the

Commission, and of course the other riders who I'll be representing.

I'm going to have a Riders' Meeting in Mont-Sainte-Anne next month so

we can start looking at any changes we need for 2009".

Greg currently races for the Santa Cruz Syndicate and is sitting 3rd

in the UCI World Cup DH series after winning the 3rd round in Scotland

Would be great if he starts giving input in XC courses LOL

"So after the 30km mark at the bottom of the hill we put a series of 2m dirt jumps, followed by a 5m drop-off, before the riders jump over the tar road, so we don't need marshals there..."

JL (Junoir Lemming) should maybe take lessons with Greg Minaar regarding his down hill bike handling skills.  CRoss over from Mtb to road is common, but road to DH is spectactular especially in the TdF
