one of those "cyclists of bravado mentality" stories - after class / college last nite my friend & I parted company. I suggested I follow her home to make sure she's safe & hubby can open the gate for her. She opted for option 2 - "I'll be ok" - minutes later on Christiaan De Wet she calls me frantically explaining she's almost knocked over/potentially injuring-killing a cyclist - huh ?????????? 8h30 -  NO LIGHTS / NO HELMET & CYCLING IN THE DARK - SHE'S JUST SEEN HIM IN TIME & SWERVED OUT OF THE WAY NARROWLY MISSING HIM ... !!

 

Now - what do we make of something like this? Had she hit him what would the rest or rather some of our fraternity make/say of this? - Her & her families life would be thrown into chaos & maybe confusion - what do U tell his family etc???

 

Just a thought: Guys/Gals spread the word - LET'S BE SAFE & PRACTICE OUR SPORT AS IF THE LAST DAY WE HAVE TO RIDE - "I DO ANYWAY" -I LOVE MY LIFE!"

There is also a guy that I pass around 6:45 in the morning that only uses these crap little 1 LED jobbies on the back and front. He wears dark clothing and nothing else reflective. And like yesterday morning, it was still dark that time of the morning. It will be cool if they banned those crappy little lights.

I almost hit another cyclist this weekend. I was heading down the road to meet my group, and as I turned right at a traffic light a guy came cruising across my path with no lights whatsoever. It was before 7am, so still very dark. He was almost invisible, the only reason I saw him at the last moment was because my eyes picked up the movement. Makes me mad!

Yep, I'm still convinced that they were the ones going in the wrong direction though.  Clearly they didn't want to be blinded by the flashing knog frog hanging from my seatpost
