Weightweenie XC racers will have 140 rear and 160 front.

Most bikes come with 160 front and rear while some trail bikes are coming with 160 rear and 180 front.

I weigh 100kg and upgraded my front rotor to 180 just to make myself feel better. Not sure how much difference it actually makes.

Remember that with a 180mm and upwards rotor you will have to start looking at using a 20mm type through axle. This would mean a new suspension fork and hub for your current wheel. Apparently there has been accounts of skewers failing due to the twisting of the suspension forks encountered when aggressive riding takes place.

160R

Only bike that come stock with 140mm rear is the Cannondale Team Replica Carbon Scalpel 100.

Pro racers want to lose the 40gr they save on the caliper mount and smaller rotor. Just make sure you know how to use the front brakes if you go for this set up. It is not for the rear brake rear wheel lock up crowd.
