Thanks, I have spoken to 2 people of late with damaged stanchions and their LBS told them that they basically have to get new forks.

So far so good! 1:30 race last night and no oil leakage ..............

 

 

Just watch the seal from now on. Suggest you store the fork upside down to keep the seal lubed.

Alternatively just a few drops of fork oil on the seal before you ride should protest till the fork starts working and wets the seal via the compression stroke.

In the mean time start saving for new sliders, crown and steerer assembly.

I guess it depends on how bad the damage is and how much effort you are prepared to put in

 

My LBS also said replace blah blah blah but they know me by now .......
