Get real' date=' if we just chatted cycling then the hub would die a gradual death for sure. It would be so boring we would actually have to get down and do some work for a change.  It is the controversial topics and the different opinions and all the personalities and characters that make the hub interesting and keeps people coming back. All I can say is thank god for BigH and the other **** stirrers, ?cos you can?t have a debate with someone that agrees with you. i generally don't look at a thread if it goes more than 4 pages - because then i know that there is (if lucky) one relevant post per page. the rest is hi-jacking for the sake of hi-jacking by people who like the sound of their voice/seeing their names on threads. i only looked at this one (and suffered through non-topic-related posts) because the topic is pretty important.

 

ewep - you were spot on with your posting, as was linega and some others.

 

a thread such as the pets pictures one is great - it's how we get to know each other. and as long as it stays on topic fellow cyclists will most likely want to read it.

 

a thread aimed at bashing other people can continue - most of us won't bother to read it. so yes, there have been numerous recently that i've not bothered to look at at all, based on who the thread starter was.

 

bigH, as ewep said, get over yourself. not everyone is a bigot and not everyone is interested in a cult-style view of your religion (ie "i am right and no-one else is and you will all burn in hell" blah blah blah) so stop starting topics on those lines in order to incite flame wars.
