Where to repair aluminium frame in Western Cape

A friend of mine damaged his MTB frame, are there any reputable places in the Western Cape that do frame repairs?

The top tube has been damaged by the shifter, and has a hole in it. Can this be fixed?

Interesting question.

Look forward to some replies.

I cracked my chainstay and have been told that it is near impossible to replace/repair.

Has to do with the curing they do when building the frame and the tolerances that aluminium has.

I reckon the frame is ok to ride, but the ding looks really bad, and being on the top tube it's in a place where he will see it all the time. I actually can't believe the shifter did so much damage to the tube.

The biggest issue is, whether or not the structural integrity of the frame has been compromised, if the frame is still structuraly sound, the best bet is probably a bit of automobile body filler and a new paint job. is the frame worth it?

Link engineering in Salt River do aluminuim repairs.Whether they will be able to repair a frame is debateable. They would be able to give an honest answer.

Thanks guys, will call Link. Will look at Produx as an option too. The frame is a Scott hardtail. It's about 2-3 years old I think, specced with LX and XT so can't be a bad frame. Looks like the predecessor to the Scale series, so probably worth trying to get it fixed.
