In the Vets tour we did last week, my tubby burst 10k into the race. It is a Vredenstein Volante tyre, only the did about 110km on it, but it burst like gunshot, nearly crashed. It sure does not look like a puncture, more like it exploded.

Did anyone have similar experiences with these tyres?

The post got nothing to do with shimano.....but atleast you got your post count up...Confused

Was more tongue in cheek than anything else, Bliksempie wants a set of Tubbies so I am scouring the hub for a decent set.

No ill feelings Had shimano before campy and now campy is more of an emotional thing than anything else

Have a great day

Rabubi - I had the exact same thing happen.  Had my bike shop put the tubby on for me, and on my first training ride on it (about 50k in) it popped.

I always look at the road to avoid glass, etc so I know I didn't ride over anything.

I put it down to a tubby to avoid at all cost.  Now ride the Evo CX and loving them!

Hub ride?

Maximo, I usualy go for about 8bar, but this time I pumped it just over 9, read later on the tubby the limit is 9, but surely it should be able to handle much more than that. Feedback I got sofar is that they are crap, so will go back to gatorskins.

Interesting that 9 bar is the limit on those tires. I've been trying to find a link on the Zipp website that dispels the common belief that one should pump tubbies far harder than clinchers. When I find it I'll post it. However 8 bar would be almost correct assuming that you don't weigh more than 80kg.
