Had a meeting with DOT in Pta today to finalise the placement.

 

Shaun's whole initiative has been given ongoing project status, I also have a better understanding of the intricacies involved.

 

The end result is that I didn't get what I originally had in mind, which was to have an initial sprinkling of signs to create awareness.

Use the awareness as a springboard to raise more funds to populate the route with signs.

We have rather gone the route of closing out one particular loop and then moving to the next one.

 

Phase one is signage to be placed at the GPA prescribed points on the Lynnwood road/Boschkop route favoured by many cyclists in Pta's eastern suburbs.

 

This has used up 6 signs, the remaining 2 will be erected on Hans Strydom as the first steps to phase 2.

I drive all the way out to the Cradle every weekend now, it's just so nice with the lanes and signs.  Only have to watch out for the motor bike *ssholes now.

Have just got off the phone with the Chief Road Superintendent.

Will try and go out to take a pic to post later.

Excellent, I can breath a sigh of relief as it only took 14 months to erect.
