Currently i'm using shimano mtb pedals on my road bike. I've convinced myself that road specific shoes are the way forwards, as the extra stiffness will mean less energy loss.

But do the road specific pedals add any real measurable difference?

Went from MTB cleats too Look SPD's and Shimano carbon sole shoes.

You can not believe the difference.  If you have the money buy it

Also the specific shoes made a huge difference for me.  I used to have a relatively inexpensive pair of shoes which was the best I could afford at the time.  When I got my Specialized road shoes the difference was incredible.

Okay, cheers all. Will get the shoes this month and then the pedals will get added to my performance reward programme somewhere.
