Anybody using Alligator I-link cables?

Was thinking of getting some to bling up my bike a bit (to use with Shimano).

Was told by the salesman in the shop that they're fine for the brakes, but no to use them on the gears, because they give sloppy shifting.

Anybody that can speak from experience?

I put them on last week, gear and brake and they are great.Shifting is perfect , they are lighter and looks really good too.Had to adjust tension at rear der after first ride, but that you do with any new cables anyway.

Mine are still in the packet, so hope its not true.

Ok, well let me know how it goes...

Sounds promising... How much lighter do you reckon? A pack of standard shimano cables for Dura-ace was about 200g (50g/m).

Did you just tension at the derailleur with the dial, or did you have to pull more cable through, and crimp?

Thanks, thinking gold cables will really compliment my gold Pro-bolt kit & KCNC's.

Don't know the exact weight advantage but definately lighter. The idee of the cabling in a protective sleeve and then in the housing I like and think these will last a long time. Just had to adjust at the barrell at the RD no need to pull cable. When you fit just turn adjuster almost fully in to give you enough adjustment. Mine I only needed to turn about a three quarter turn to get it perfect.

Shimano is designed to work at its best with Shimano inner gear cable and Sis Outercasing. Many companies are making similar products but our experience has shown the best shifting performance is obtained by using only Shimano inner cable  and outercasing.
