New wheels and tubeless conversion, use standard foldable tyres. Good wheel build would be American Classics hubs laced to ZTR Olympic rims, 2 cross with Dt Swiss Revolution spokes, 2 -1.5 mm, the 1.8 - 1.5 break quite easily. Alu nipples look cool and save about 25 grams but make for a weaker build cause you can't tension the spokes as much.

cut cut cut cut....

Please tell us why a spoke with an 1.8mm but vs a 2mm but breaks more easily?

A good wheelbuilder can easily tension a wheel with aluminium nipples and if he runs out of strength, he replaces the rear right side with brass nipples. Inititial tension is not the problem with alu nipples but subsequent tuning of the wheel.

Where can I get these from? And what price does this go for?

Depending on how heavy you are - replacing the Fox with a SID should save you 400g

According to weight weenies - 1680g for the Fox and 1296g for the SID world cup.

Rims, hubs and lighter tires would save you a lot. Crossmax SL for example should save you 200g. Depends how much you want to spend. The other consideration with weight is always durability and the weight of the rider.

While this is an interesting topic, I have to ask myself if it's worth throwing that much cash into making this bike lighter? At 12kg it's not too bad for a FS, let's say you get lighter wheels and a lighter fork that would be how much? R10k? R15k? For how much of a saving? 1 kg? Not even? Would it not be easier (and cheaper) to spend a bit of time in the gym to get more strength in your legs?

Before you lot flame me, I'm not a weight weenie, my hard tail probably weighs 14kg! I'm just curious about the money spent vs the benefit.

Im sorry but i agree with Hog, these other okes get too obsessed with weight! Seriously, just ride man! I understand it to a point but then it just gets ridiculous! 11.6 is pretty light for a full sus, unless you are a pro(or really good) dont worry about making your bike lighter!

You could knock 100 grams by changing the saddle, you don't mention what seatpost you are using, go for a KCNC Ti-lite Pro, guaranteed to save you some grams. Aligator's I-Link system can also knock a bit off. What else........If you replace the rear shock with a Fox unit you'll save quita lot fat as well.
