What MTB Skewers to get

I need to get New Skewers and can't decide witch ones to get.

 

 

 

At the moment it is between KCNC and Hope.  I can get Hope for about

R475 and KCNC for R505. Can any one give me some pros and cons on these.

I dont know which is lighter or stronger.

But I personally think that the Hope products look nicer. Got a blue set the other day.

 

Will slowly add a blue Hed Dr, Grip Dr and Space Dr. Already got a silver QR seatclamp.

 

Would LOVE some Blue hubs to round off the colour coding...

I am going for the stronger one. And the one that doesn't come loose in when it gets bumpy. The skewers came loose 3 times the M&B 24 race. Front once and rear twice. I was told that the KCNC will fix that.

I use the KCNC ones in my XTR wheelset.

They look pimp, they are superlight and they hold your wheel like a hook in the mouth of a hungry fish.

Both choices are good.., but I personally have my sights set on getting a set of the new Crank Brothers Cobalt Split Skewers...

Why the split????? Incremental fastening.

 

By the way the skewers that loossened , how did you tighten them. I have come to my own way and it works. I close the skewer and then hand tighten the retaining nut. When It is tight is loossen the cam lever and give the retauining nut a extra twist. Normally that is enough and I have never had skewers come loose. Also keep the cam surfaces of the skewer lightly greased.

i have got some Green skewers not too sure of the brand but they came in an M2racer packet they hold on like a pig stuck in tar!!!!

That is what I normally do. After the last time one came loose I made it so that I had to stand on the skewer to get the thing closed. That seems to work but don't think I will be able to open it again without using a long pipe.
