RockCoach Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Thug, lets just say "The Dog" did it woof!!! About 2 weeks ago I'm flying down the hill towards the bridge unaware that it's broken. My riding buddy is flying after me trying to shout a warning but I don't hear him. Only after clearing the rock at speed and onto the bridge itself did I notice that there's a section missing. Knowing I couldn't stop in time, my first thought was to hop it but fortunately realised I'd probably just break more slats. So I locked up and as my front wheel slid into the gaping hole, I unclipped and swung my left leg over the chasm on, managing to save an embarrassing face plant.

We're actually very lucky to have The Spruit right here in the middle of biggest, busiest city in southern Africa! My wife and I have been riding it mid-mornings lately and it has been really pleasant. This morning we encountered a group of 12 women and one guy, who are part of a crowd that ride The Spruit twice a week. Great to see! So go ride it, Zoo Cookie. It's worthwhile (but just don't ride alone).

If I had to wait for a convenient time for my buddies to join me, I'd never ride! anyway... it's my regular Saturday morning ride and you're more than welcome to join me anytime Zoo.... except this Saturday when I'll be seconding hubby in a 100 miler..
