My 5c which is probably not needed - I am 69kg and got a set of Roval Controle E5 wheels. Believe me these things have taken a proper hiding, a lot of racing this year including the epic, they still run smooth as ever (although the rear rim has a few dings). Paid R8500 for the buggers, see more here

1428 grams, lighter than the XT/XTR, but not good if you more than 80kg.

JB's quote:

"Shimano's new wheels are designed the right way. I had the opportunity to dismantle an XTR wheel and boy' date=' have they got it right."

[/quote']

And ?

What has qualified this statement as being gospel ?

Saying this, they are excellent wheels, I have had a pair for 2 and a half years now.

I've had two HUGE offs where I once cased a huge rock and once didnt clear a deep trench...both times my rear wheel took the impact and sent me flying and both times I thought the wheel was a throw away. Perfect both times...XTR! it was worth it!
