am not sure i'm getting what giant are up to with this bike. four inches puts this bike so close to the trance.

It's still has the XC geometry. The Tance has more slacked angles. There is more to travel distance that defines a bike.

don't buy that. what's the headtube angle on this bike? 71 with 100mm's travel up front. the new advanced has 72 with 80. they seem to making a different spread of bikes available to different markets. the new trance x seems to be available in the same markets as the anthem x, but there is no traditional trance to be had.

They have gone back to the old NRS design regarding the Rear shock

i think it's nearer the current trance linkages. the only difference seems to be a straight downtube.

No, not really, the layout may be the same, but there is abig difference. They now use a virtual pivot point design, whereas the nrs was a normal NRS design (the specialized patent.) The anthem has a type of four bar linkage, that pivots around a single pivot point that moves as the wheel goes through the travel. Hence the Virtual Pivot Point monicker.

Will It have a bob or is that limited on the X1

maybe a short back and sides?LOL

The only Bob on a FS bike should be the rider right (TNT?).

sorry, couldn't resistLOLi don't think it's possible to fully eliminate pedal bob, but i love the ride of the maestro system - am riding an amlost 3-year-old trance at the moment.

Bob as in pedal induced bob? that depends alot on your setup and even riding style. The amount of air you pump in the shock will have an effect, and also how much platform you dail in. I have never ridden any of the Giant FS bikes, so I am not sure, but apparently the trance only really bobs in the granny ring on big out of saddle climbs. Remember that the trance is more of a trail bike, so they might not share this trait. According to my lbs, they moved the shockpoint, as it places less stress on the downtube at the bottom, and the centre of gravity is lower.
