Kiwi stop it!, I don't want to know hoe good your service is. I realy want one of your bikes but just can not afford it right now. And I'm hiding behind the fact that it's really not nice bikes. Wink

WTF COOLHEAT =NO BACKUP' date='LOUSY SERVICE

I buy all my shimano overseas.

[/quote']

Has anyone considered going back to Shimano directly and telling them that they have no local support for their products through their official agents. From past experience, the Japanese don't like to hear this kind of thing.

Thats likely to achieve little. Importers have the rights to make decisions regarding their business model in the country of distribution and manufacturers will honour that decision.

That extends to who they do business with, product lines, warranties etc.

Coolheat may not see it as "lousy service" just the way they do business.

The company I contract to is one of the largest construction companies in the African continant, yet a certain Korean manufacturer chooses not to supply us with earth moving equipment because they have contracts in place with other construction companies - its not personal, its just business.!

This is amazing how this has turned from a general warrantee discussion into a burn Coolheat fest. So is it the company that is problem as it definately can not be their products. Can it be why they lost/gave up the Mavic agency?

I read in a UK mag last night that in Europe Mavic is supplying direcly to the retailers just to make their products more competative against other brands and have better part service.

I support my LBS regardless. End of story. All need to earn a living.

What about other importers, surely Cool Heat is not the only ones to pick on.

Agreed, my intention was not to burn Coolheat ( oxymoron if ever there was one! ) but to find out it you will receive warrantee backup locally which you are entitled too if you bought it from a registered dealer regardless of location, not just shimano, same for sram/truvativ/ fox/ rockshock etc etc.

Porky, we sell all parts for Shimano Sti, left hand levers seperate parts etc etc. Pity you never brought this to my attention early as i was just reading some issues relating to Coolheat and poor service. Our business is based on good service and back up. Sometimes its not always possible to assist every single client but we will bend over backwards to assist in most cases.

It is rather disappointing, because, judging by your reply, it appears the retailer was trying to sell me two STIs when I only needed one.

They distinctly blamed Coolheat as the reason I could not get an individual unit.

I didnt bother checking this with yourselves at the time as I just took the retailer on his word - perhaps that was a problem from my side.

Well, never the less, I am pleasantly impressed that you took the time to reply, its water under the bridge now, but I will remember to check with Coolheat should I have an issue in the future.

Thank you.

Each company has its own warranty policy. Suggest you guys read the bit that ends up in the bin before binning it :)

Fox has a 1 yrs warranty but it's crap. It's full of exclusions. Basicalky theony thing they warranty is the lowers for cracking and failing and the crown stanchions..

SRAM, Rock Shox are supported by Cape Cycle Systems. SRAM red has a 3 yr warranty

Force is 2yrs and Rival is 2 yrs

X.0 is 3 yrs, x.9 is 2 yrs.

This excludes parts on a fully built up bike. The warranty in that case is only 1 year for all manufacturers incl campakkernono

Probike warranties any of the brands we represent no matter where it was bought in the world.

Clap good stuff Probike.

Comobike.com has set up a local South African outlet. I've bought stuff from them before the started local operations, and their prices were very good, best I could find at that time for the Campy stuff I wanted. Should be even easier to do business with them now!

Hmm...  The same thing has happened to me after I broke my left STI shifter.  I had to buy two as I was told I could only get the STI shifters in pairs, shop also blamed coolheat, but aslo happened a year or so ago so not really bothered by it.

Stephen can I ask if you (Cool Heat) will service and repair Shimano components bought from Solomons Trading, CWC and Chain Reaction?
