Does any one know why we have FIVE different seeding systems in SA?

Winning Time

Champion Chip

Cycle Lab

Cycling SA

PPA

and they all different?

Not one of the systems looks at the other ones events! Maye Winning Time and PPA do but that is all.

Winning time and Champion chip are merely timing companies

Cyclelab and PPA use their timing to produce seeding for races, PPA only use Winningtime while Cyclelab dont discriminate and use both

Thanks But why dont we just have one system

Cause Winningtime is primarily Western Cape events and all PnP sponsored events (Argus, 94.7, OFM, Amashova etc.), whereas Championchip is Durban/Gauteng mainly ....

Bottom line, both are companies, driven by their bottom line!!! ($$$$$)

There should be only one national seeding index and it should be owned by CSA. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The problem is that they don?t have the ability to do this. The only system that has been tested and kept up to date is the Cyclelab system. As mentioned, it also gets info from both Winning Time and Champion chip.

CSA is more the body for registered license racers. Why would CSA needs to keep an index system of all 35000 Argus entries for example?? whereas a timing company has no issue keeping a database of results ...

CSA (Cycling South Africa) is the correct place for this. It should not be kept by a commercial timing company. It needs to be neutral and get info from the two main timing companies (and any other timing company that might appear in the future)<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It needs to be national and not regional and should not prejudice anyone who might only have a WT chip and not CC or the other way around
