Been watching the Imana Wild Ride on TV this last week and was wondering as to what kind of damage is done to these bikes. Do you just strip and service after the race and all is OK or is there more permanant damage?

I shudder at the thought of riding my bike through those crossings and on the beach in sea water.Confused

It was right up there with a Freddy Kruger movie! There must be some deep long term damage to a bike doing that kind of stuff.

It also looked like off the bike fitness was more important than on the bike fitness!! I saw more people carrying/pushing than riding!! smiley3.gif

If I was lucky enough to get to ride the Imana wild ride, I'd actually buy a new bike specially for it. Something like a R6 - R7k hardtail.

There is no ways I'd subject my Santa Cruz to the amount of salt water that crossing all those rivers entails.

Something disposable like a Raleigh maybe?

hehe' date=' any bike would do.

Hey Thug, by the way, thanks for fixing the Alberts bridge. You Da Man!Clap

I would like to take a bow but sadly I can't. The Main Dog did all the fixing himself notwithstanding my offer to help.

After Imana everything must come off the bike and be stripped individually! Also the internals of the frame get flushed, fork internals and everything relubed properly. Notwithstanding the initial service and packing everthing with grease before you go as well. It is however an awesome event!
