So who did you ride for.

Sorry' date=' not going to say... seems like people get quite hostile here, Ouch so not going to give to much info about myself here...

You seem to have hit a nerve with turtlek and mercx!  Don't let them put you off or let you reveal your identity.  The advantage of the Hub is that you can stay annonimous and contribute until YOU feel it best to reveal it.  Nothing you said have made it necessary, so keep it to yourself.

Here's one for you. I know an ex world bmx champion that never gets mentioned when they talk about the riders in this country. Leave the pro's to do what they do. I think they are all damn hard riders ladies included that deserve what they get from the sport. Whether it be in RSA or overseas.

Pain is an illusion of the brain!!! LOL

Its true man... it is just your body speaking to you and telling you that it doesnt like what you are doing to it!!  If you can see pain as an argument with your body and not as a physicall thing, you can push yourself easier through it...  Just choose to ignore it... know it cant be that good for you but if comes between a win and a loose, you just have to...

Yes our pro teams are not the best but they are however improving a lot over the years. As riders and teams go overseas they bring back with them the knowlage and intensity of racing overseas therefore when they race here in SA it improves the racing of the entire field. for example...i was racing for a team in Jhb in 2006, then Konica went overseas for a few months to race. Once they got back they raced everyone broken, but overtime all the other teams improved, and so the entire elite level improved.  Its also a matter of whether one gets the opportunity to race overseas. Most people dont have the contacts or the money to go overseas.

On the other hand i dissagree with people who take juice to improve theirselves(and I know there are) just to try make it into the local elite level. If one is unable to make it to the top naturaly then you should honestly not be there.

Hey Comebackboy...

What a first post hey.....Wink

You don't bother with a handshake.....Ermm

Look at it this way.

Cycling is their(the Pros) job.  So, if he can make a career locally, why in the world would he want to go eat crap food, live in crappy weather, away from your family and friends?  If you make a decent living, love what you do as a job and be close to family and friends.....why change that?  For money?  Fame?

People are driven by different things......

And it is like that in ANY career.  If you are a CA and work for a local SA firm......sure....you are taking up a "new upcoming" CA's position because you can en theory go work overseas, have more money, more fame etc....

So why don't they?

Home is home my friend.

It is up to you as a person to decide if you want to go work (read:cycle) in another foreign country or not.

For me it is easy.....

I go where the biltong is.....

Its true, but much easier said than done.

Otherwise we would all be a bunch of Contadors and Armstrongs on the climbs and T.T's..

I am sure if there was a Protour/Elite league in Europe for CA's where they get MUCH bigger salaries, and real fame, and they would try it out if they were picked!!!  Cycling is a bit different....

Hmmm, the gentleman doth protest too much, methinks....

Sorry Spidey, but I just don't buy that anyone would not want to ride in a TdF team if they can, no matter how pretty they find Table mountain and dried meat!  Yes, slaving as a domestique in the backwaters suck, but making the bigtime in Europe is the only real deal.
