Used it for the first time yesterday. Installed Sportstracker on my Nokia E71, started it up and chucked the phone in my camelbak and went for a ride with a couple of buddies.

Slow ride, one of the girls struggled a little, which was perfect to test the battery usage out of the Sportstracker software. Got to a coffeeshop after the ride, click upload ride in the software, and that's it, it's on your account on the website.

Here's the link to the ride.

Best thing is, I lost 1 bar on my battery life on the phone, I reckon a 8 to 10 hour ride will be quite possible on the full battery.

Apart from not doing heart rate I am well impressed. Best thing is, it's completly free ;)

That E71 looks like a fantastic phone' date=' what is your opinion of it?

I was deadset on getting the iphone 3G, but with the release date getting moved further forward for SA, I got the E71, and I cannot be more happy.

The qwerty keyboard is fantastic, the phone is FAST, and battery life is excellent I get 4 to 5 days out of the phone.

I'm waiting for my E71. I have downloaded the sportstracker software last week already. I actually wanted the Touch Diamond, but I refuse to pay  for a phone. So next phone with GPS is a E71.... Daemon, Thanks for this update.....

No internal GPS in the E51' date=' but you can connect an external GPS via bluetooth.

You could probably get it to work, but it would be a messy solution. The beauty of the sportstracker and integrated GPS phone is, as Daemon syas, you switch it on, start the app, and forget about it... Using a seperate paired blueteeth thingy wont be so easy each time...

Iphone 3G is meant to be released tonight at midnight.

Reviews say the GPS on the iPhone is very week.  (and no turn by turn navigation software available yet)

Agree; just giving the options.

I have an E51, but no bluetooth GPS.

I use a Garmin Edge 305 on the bike. Smile

I use the E51 with external Nokia Bluetooth GPS device. Sportstracker is the application I use the most on the phone. Clap<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I agree that it would have been nice to have the build in GPS - less "messy". But note the advantage that on the external option the GPS use it own battery. (But the Bluetooth communication probably increase phone power consumption again...) Also I might be corrected but for example on the N95 the phone must be kept slide open to use the GPS.

During last year's LeEtape I were able to record a track of 12:15 (yes I missed the cut-off Ouch) The E51's battery only just made it, but the Nokia Bluetooth device was going strong.

I also lost my external Nokia device, and re-ordered one via eBay from China. Unbelievably the quality is not the same and the communication crash often. Angry

Had a look at the HTC Diamond as well, guy at work got one, had a couple of probs, battery last a day, and dammm the interface was slow. Still a nice phone, guess it depends on how you use it.

My co-workers all have the TYTN II. Complain alot about the battery life. E71 says UP TO 10h Talktime and UP TO 17 days standby.... I wonder how long it lasts when you use the GPS?

Well I reckon 8 to 10 hours using SportsTracker is possible. Using Nokia Maps or Garmin XT...probably around 4 hours
