Right, so I currently have the 'Goose. She's not a top of the range bike, but she does well enough for me.

Now let's say I worked myself to near-death the last 2 months or so, and I've got a few K left in the bank after covering the wedding fund, what should I do with it. Let's, for this exercise, say it's R4k.

Currently the 'Goose has a Suntour shock. It's a piece of sh*t. Should I get a second hand Fox?

Or, let's say I can live with the Suntour *spit* for a while longer - since I don't know better - should I get a second-hand FS frame and transplant the components from the 'Goose to the frame? I'm really keen on a FS setup.

Should I rather do the sensible thing and spend the money on booze and women of questionable morals?

what type of riding do you want to do hog?

I got the dual upfront, why spend the money on a hardtail to have to upgrade later. Actually it was to save my back and help me with a smoother ride. Since I have never been on a hardtail I dont know if it helps.

Sell the goose. Combine the money and get a used dual.

Sell the goose? Are you mad? She makes me happy, why would I sell her? Would you sell your loved ones? Tongue

I thought of that, but it doesn't seem as much fun as doing a transplant Wink

It would be MUCH better value for money though.

A shock will definitely give you the most noticable difference in your ride.

I do however think calabash has the most sensible option. Check what's out there. 4k and whatever you get for the 'Goose can bump up your components and shock.

If you are sentimental, take a pic and frame it.Wink

I like the idea of upgrading the shock.

Let's say I decided to sell the 'Goose and I manage to get R3k for her, with a R7k budget:

1. I won't really get much

2. Don't know if it's been cared for

3. It's gonna be HEAVY

4. It won't be a 'Goose LOL

So I think that my brand-sluttyness is making me lean towards the shock upgrade. I know there's been a few Fox F-series floating around for about R3 - 4k, but I'm thinking of getting something with adjustable travel. That way, when the day comes that I do build my full-suspension AM bike I already had a 135mm fork.

I need to have a beer and ponder this decision...

Giant anthem is a lovely bike to own.

The problem is that the bike will be pretty low spec for the budget I have, so I'll just start upgrading it from the start! LOL

It may be better to just upgrade the 'Goose.

get that rock shox worldcup from brendawg

How do these compare to the Fox F-series? Ride, parts availability, serviceability etc?

Weight isn't really such an important thing for me, since I can trim at least 10kg off my waistline.
