i like the fact that i could get my prescription lenses for my RP rydon's. cost a bit more but now i can use them day and night. no need to change glasses for day and night time riding.

something none of us seem to have mentioned recently - RP's are so light you hardly notice you're wearing them. even with the inserts. these new ones look divine!

Hi Everyone

They are called the Exowind and you can place your orders at your local Rudy Project dealer now.

Stock is on it's way and shops that have backorders will be prioritised

Price for the transparent with a photochromic will be about R2300

Enjoy

Ok...

So.... I don't know where to begin. Pardon me for being the voice of reason.

These are regular clear lens glasses right? And from what I read, they cost R2300? Do they do anything other than keep bugs and wind out of your eyes? Or is it all about looking good (which doesn't make you faster by the way)?

Let me introduce you to what I ride with in the mornings. It's called, wait for it, safety glasses, can be had at any Makro or just about any hardware store for around R50.

Oh, and it also weighs 24 grams...

I think photochromic mean they change colour (or get colour in this case) when the sun shines on them. Useful for vampires who overstay their welcome.

Fancy.

Usually if the sun is out I ride with my battered Oakleys. If it isn't I ride with my safety glasses.

I call this technology, "pick the friggin correct glasses before you go ride"-chromatic.

I found them quite useful when mountain biking for transitions between sunlight and trees when standard Oakleys leave you momentarily blind. Not that I'm doing enough mountain biking recently to really need them right now.

I think you will find quite a dramatic difference between the Rudy's featured/discussed here and your safety glasses Azonic. These 'Photochromic clear' lenses are almost transparent in low light conditions, but go amzingly dark when the sun is out....and they are ridiculously comfortable....but yes, R2300 is not cheap.....but then again, this is cycling.

Even photochromatic lenses will leave you temporarily blind when going from bright light into the shade or darker areas like tunnels as it will take a few seconds for the lenses to lighten. The only advantage here will be that you don't have to lift your or remove your glasses for the entire ride through the tunnel/ dark area.

My BBB/quickstep glasses are more than enough and don't see why I need to spend 2,3k on a pair of glasses. Hell, D'Arcs are even bulletproof at a fraction of the priceShocked

As long as they keep the bright light, wind, rain and bugs out of my eyes then I'm happy.

Lets give the bike shops more reason to jack the prices up!!!OuchShocked
