  1. New owner, not part of the trail network anymore.
  2. Loved the Trilogy... did it last year and this year was great! Not to open a can of worms regarding Gravel bikes vs MTB's but Had a few chuckles when the "gravel bikers" complained about the guys in the A batch on mountain bikes, and how "dangerous it is for them". I pointed out a few of the gravel bikers to the said people who were riding in the drops in a group of around 30 guys with no hands close to the brakes, yet we were seen as dangerous. 10min faster this year on my time of last year! The mix is really good and the mud and technical stuff really evened out the playing field. A-frames still remain a challenge for a lot of people! and when you have 2 x BIG Black Steers Patties next to the a-frame people forget all skills! Love the reaction of the road back markers when the faster trilogy riders come past in the last 4km....Dirty and hauling!
  3. @NicholasH is there a tog bag drop off area tomorrow morning?
  4. Noted I suspect they can only start around 10:00 or 11:00. But i will use it as encouragement
  5. @NicholasH Asking for a friend, @BuffsVintageBikes, what time will the bar start serving brandy specials?
  6. You need to be the 1st.... Just do it! Part with your kids varsity fund!
  7. Even swopping between the Ciovita range makes a difference, the Corsa 2's are more comfortable then the Supremo's, same size, the cut changes the way it feels over a longer distance. Cheaper does not always reflect less comfort. I use them for MTB/Gravel/Road. No issues.
  8. I did it this year on my HT, 12spd 10-51, with a 36t upfront. (13:25 finish time) Can honestly say there is not much more i would change. maybe i will swop back to my Dual SUS, but otherwise no changes. Changing the 34 to 36 would give a lot more top end speed without losing to much on climbing. And sitting slip does have added benefits.
  9. I have stood in the ocean to set the altitude correctly.... I am now looking at opening it up to get to the ports/holes to see if that helps
  10. Currently experiencing the same with my 530. Done all the "tips and tricks" as per google. No luck. My elevation is always out compared to friends riding the same route. I use Strava Elevation Correction to get a better indication of the elevation, but that is only after the ride. During the ride i just enjoy the ride.
  11. Looking forward to the event. i posted the same question on facebook, Will the fun walk/trail run take place at the new venue as well? my family enjoyed it so much last year.
  12. Santa Cruz Blur 3 or 4. The Blur 4 can take 2 water bottles in the frame. I just put a 120mm on the front instead of the 100mm. i am 90+kg and no issues over long distance.
  13. Start with the local bike shops, maybe check on the Paarl side as well.
  14. I was informed by race office, that it was possible, and the fee was R50. Please can you provide your email address. Thanks
  15. Road is still closed. passed by there the other day
  16. THanks for this, any chance you have it on file or strava link?
  17. https://bottelaryconservancy.co.za/about-mtb-trails/ They have holiday permits for R250 for the whole holiday. Day permit is R100
  18. c2909dc8-33eb-4e5f-baf4-bd75a2a35315.mov This the video of your incident?
  19. Apparently opening 5 October
  20. Jonkershoek is closed as well, according to MTO's page.
  21. Chat to Titan first. You insurance would have a clause in that states it wont cover if its covered under warranty. But there seems to be a lot happening in your scenario. 60km PR ride, chain snapping, then puncture, then wobbling hub and then cracked rims from the cased jump. Did all this happen in one go/incident? Good luck with the search on who is going to cover your loss.
  22. Okay toe caps it is. Good luck. CPT winter is coming soon for us
  23. The other option, use a small/medium ziplock type bag, that covers your toes and arch of the foot, not the entire foot. That will allow it to vent some of the "sweat" and you not sealing the foot from ventelation. Sock > plastic > sock works as well, and tape up the vents of the shoe
