  2. Morning, To be honest, dealing with the SAPS on a daily basis. There is pretty much zero chance of the recovery of the bike, if the suspect was not found with the bike, the chance of recovery is very very small. With regards to any monetary refund/payout there is no chance, if you considering approaching the state or suspect. Trusting you possibly took international travelers insurance, that could possibly step in for you. The SA justice system is not going to be your friend, its a very slow process, and a painful process. In this matter, its going to sound harsh, but you might have to write this loss off, and move on. Hope this helps.
  3. Is this a Sub 3 CTCT(argus) bike?
  4. On the point of Hydration!! Might be controversial The beer tent was amazing. I have now found the reason to cycle faster... the earlier you finish the quicker you get to the beer tent. Castle Lite did very well with the merchandizing! i was able to consume 4 Beers and received 2x pairs of socks and a Castle Lite branded Dora the Explorer Backpack Upon mentioning this to my "slower" friends that finished after 11, they were upset. They did not get anything.... I merely stated that they should cycle faster to get better seedings to finish earlier! Strutting away with my newly acquired Backpack, did 3:10 out of 1C. Organizers could have put more tents up for shade....finding family friendly shade was a problem for the cyclists finishing later. sadly i hear as well that some people who finished much later did not get medals at the end as they "ran out".
  5. Have a look at the Rook Scout Groad Black 11spd. Its slightly over your R15k budget, but at R19k its brand new 11spd.
  6. R115k. for the GX build R90k for the NX build
  7. There has been a HUGE in scammers selling Garmin/Polar items, not saying on the HUB, but facebook and gumtree for sure. Just be careful.
  8. You might need to look at "Commercial" insurance, as a Sports Person. As you are generating a income for the bikes "tools of trade". Hope it helps.
  9. Cannot agree more. They provide such personal service. it might seem initially expensive, but there products last and they have brilliant back up service. if you are around Stellenbosch , go visit the showroom in woodmill Centre… and then have a beer at stellenbrau or Beer yard @extremelights
  10. Chat to the Stellenbosch trail fund Guys … they support development guys.
  11. Not all heros wear capes? hehe
  12. I was on the hardtail, and must say, at no point did i feel i needed anything else. I did however feel for @BuffsVintageBikes on the gravel bike. The last 30-40km is more suited to a MTB. There is marginal gains with the gravelbike over the 1st 130km but then when you hit the single tracks and rutted the MTB comes into its own.
  13. The canon at Apostle Battery, now that was a fun experience, we rode up to the gate, it was open, we carried on to the cannon, got met by a fella who looked rather surprised to see us. We told him what we were up to, and he said we can take the photos. He even tried to guide us to the other cannons lower down at another site. As we were leaving the area, there was a "oomie" with his coffee + slippers + cigarettes' standing at the gate, shouting, "you are trespassing" we tried to chat to him, but did not want to hear anything, so we left. Made for some entertainment.
  14. Hence the issue.... they kind of force you to pay if you want to score points in the XCM series. The other races are not that expensive in the same series.
  15. https://www.clayad.co.za/mtblourensford/ - They note it to be R250. https://lourensford.co.za/experience/#MTB - Out of towners R145 pp per session.
  16. Just a quick one, Does anyone know or can anyone confirm if the Lourensford Classic 2023 entry fee is correct @ R700. Or can anyone confirm if its worth the R700 for 59km 1600m race? The entry fee is what some trails year permits cost. I see a day riding permit at the farm is R250. Look i see you get a Hamburger, chips and cooldrink at the end, but surely for an event that takes place on their farm, with minimal to no road closures needed. This is not a venting post, i just want to know if its worth it?
  17. With all the sub3 talk. when someone tell you they have a sub3 argus, just make sure they specify if its on the full or half route.
  18. Devonvalley Golf Course below looking over Brackenfell (WC)
