  1. Give that pilot a Bells...or two
  2. Congrats to Mr & Mrs Admin - may you be blessed with many years of love and happiness.
  3. Thanks all for your input on Customs Duty. It's still in the dream phase, but one has to plan in advance...
  4. What Import Duty is payable on bringing in a watch purchased overseas? Either via online shopping, or declaring in the red queue at ORT?
  5. Shameful display not wearing their medals..!!
  6. Thanks so far, mixed at best it seems, with more downside than upside.
  7. With the last post now more than three years ago I'd like to resurrect this topic. I'm considering moving my cell contract (with some data) away from Vodacom to Telkom Mobile, and at the same time discontinue my Telkom "landline" (since Telkom Mobile offers free Telkom-to-Telkom calls). What current experience/comments do Hubbers have on Telkom's cellular coverage and data coverage, both i.t.o. extent and quality? How does Telkom Mobile fare on International Roaming? How is Telkom Mobile's Customer Service? I still need to research call rates and out of contract rates, but any current knowledge and comments about rates would also be useful
  8. Problem solved, for the moment at least. I was able to reconnect the TV to our primary wifi router. I know this is very simple, but I have a personal history of a number of frustrating and costly battles with connectivity, so I was anxious to say the least, expecting the worst to happen again. Thanks again to all who have replied with suggestions and other information, knowledge has been gained.
  9. Thanks to all for your replies. I think I'll have a crack at the TV settings to begin with, and will then consider the ethernet cable if that doesn't work.
  10. Thanks for your suggestions WrightJnr. I've tried the easy option of switching off the router, but no joy. Next is to try the TV settings, I need to find some clear time without risk of interruption to do this.
  11. Hi All Out of the blue I received the Netflix Error Code NW-1-19, no Internet connection on my Samsung Smart TV - no Netflix, no You Tube etc. All other devices in the home (cellphone, iPad, laptop) are receiving wireless data signal as usual, no problems I have tried the usual trick of disconnecting the TV from the mains power supply, several times, but this has not worked. Suggestions please.
  12. I wonder why there is no SA Motorbike Festival at Kyalami this year? Months back, if not late last year, it was slated for 31 May to 2 June. I thought the last two were rather good. Promoter problems? Or has the market tanked?
  13. Wow, I've never heard of Nathalie Merchant before (the Hub keeps giving..) and a quick look at a You Tube link makes we want to find out more.
  14. I never use full heat. Put hot water, nearly boiled, into the Moka pot reservoir and place it on low/medium-low, and then be patient. Do something else whilst keeping eyes and ears on the pot. Remove from heat once it starts making bubbling noises. Done within 5 minutes.
  15. Absolutely worth it if you like stronger coffee. They do not make espresso in the true sense, but you can make perfectly satisfying coffee that can approach espresso, in my amateur view at least. They are convenient, and the process and output can be addictive , millions of Italians cant be wrong! The first thing to understand is the capacity - a 6 cup Bialetti makes an average mug, and so on. I would also say avoid the cheap imitations, go for Bialetti - spares are available in ZA. There is tons of info on the web, forums, websites and You Tube, so do some research.
  16. Thanks for replies so far, especially PhillipV above
  17. OK, so I moved house at the beginning of March and found that the gap in the gas hob pot supports were too large to support even my 6 cup moka pot. Overseas one can easily find gas ring reducers which sit on the pot support, and which reduce the gap, sufficient to be able to support moka pots and other smaller vessels. One would have thought that this is a relatively common problem, but I've only found one retailer that sells a gas ring reducer (yuppiechef, and they are waiting for stock). A number of coffee equipment shops just glaze over when you ask about them (and describe what they do)... Does anyone know where I could find one in ZA, and specifically Jozi if possible?
  18. A report-back from time to time would be interesting.
