Apparently from what I heard this frame is only 100g heavier than the previous carbon frame.......

you can still shave some weight with KCNC bits and pieces..... and wheels also.....

How much does the frame including shock weigh? and how much does the fork weigh??Embarrassed

Haven't weighed the frame seperately, but Giant's "official" weight is 2.28kg for a medium. Forks weighs 1490g uncut.

Spoke to one of the local Giant employees earlier in the year. He was telling us that Giant were moving away from carbon as they felt they could achieve the same weight with ali and the carbon offered no real benefits.

Finally seems like someone is brave enough to ignore all the marketing hype.

They are working on a carbon version of the X though. Rumour has it a prototype will be raced from about Feb, with production release in 3rd or 4th quarter of '09.

Adam Craig rode an Anthem X in the last 2 rounds of the World Cup this year. Including the one in the US that he won. All other races he rode on his carbon hardtail. Not sure whether he rode an Advanced last year.

Seen this myself on the scale.Often the diff between a company Top of the line carbon FS frame and bottom of the line Ally FS frame is less than 100g.They will all tell you how much better the carbon FS rides but all marketing BS.Huge diff between carbon and ally HT but not much when you go to the FS.Not worth the extra 10-20K that they are asking.Giant has done a good thing if you ask me.

Faaaaaaark. And I have just bought the Anthem 1... :-(

The X1 looks way better with the shock position.
