Much has been said on this forum about the availability of 20 inch tubes with removable Presta valves. They are in fact available and called Continental Compact 20 (with removable Presta cores).

I've been searching for these tubes for some months now and eventually, this morning decided to phone the agent. They haven't any in stock but have a shipment on the sea.

When will it arrive? They don't know. I must phone again in a few weeks.

Do they definitely have the said tubes on order? Yeeeees not sure, maybe perhaps, can't remember.

In the absense of decent answers, we're thus limited to non-removable core tubes. This isn't a problem. To refill the tyre, simply open a gap in the bead and pour some snot in from the bottle.

Would anyone like to attend a Saturday mid-morning workshop in order to learn how to do the conversion and do theirs on the spot?

Lets see by show of hands who'd like to learn how to do a Ghetto Conversion in an environment where there is moral support, a compressor and lots of tools?

It's really not difficult at all to take pliers and loosen the valve nut until it comes right off the core. Then you push the core down the valve, put the snot in and push it out again. Screw the valve nut back on and hey presta - no removable core valves needed. I've done this several times for my CX and SS bikes - it's easy.

I still can't even find 20 inch presta tubes forget about removable cores. also you can't push a presta valve through in a tubeless tyre as it will be very hard to push it back in.

Ah. Must admit: i haven't done it with tubeless yet. But surely you can prevent the core from getting too far out the valve while you pour the snot?

Ditto - I dont care removeable or no, but must be Presta. (I had enough problems on mixing diffrent type tubes on different bikes with different pumps. Its my toolbox standard - presta, or not tubeless at all)

Assuming that you don't want Schrader for all the good reasons mentioned above, get the narrowest Presta valve tube. You discard most of the tube in anyway, so why waste.

Get Item 88741.

I just can't believe those prices? Are tubes that expensive?
