BTW' date=' there is only one point of view in this post. There may be more than one translation and you made the wrong one.  [/quote']

My previous post was conciliatary because I think that nothing more useful is going to be said & it was a way to end it, not because I have changed my view.  But, unfortunately, I couldn't let the above comment pass.

The 2 views are

1.You were only talking about black cyclists in the people you'd seen & wanted action taken against.

2. You weren't.

& whilst I'm here I might as well do this one - you said:

"Assumptions are the fother of all muck-ups dude".

Ahh yes, just like assuming who should be riding which bike and who shouldn't.

We all think our own assumptions are reasonable (I certainly like mine) but really we're all very irrational folk at heart & shouldn't be trusted with making big decisions.

......dude.

& note, no cheap shots at the spelling.

Oh can't resist  - is that "fother" pronounced the same as in the Goldmember scene, or was that more like "farzer".  Puff and a pancake anyone?

I was? Shocked

Man' date=' you must be able to read my mind better than I can.

Touche. I take your point. We often make the wrong assumptions. Are we wrong though to assume that the duck theory is incorrect then?

If someone looks out of place, purely based on his very raggedy appearance and inability to afford reasonably clothing, then the natural conclusion is that the bike is "hot", especially given the high number of bike thefts and jackings.

I did not believe this to be an unreasonable assumtion or conclusion.

In short, for those of you who found my conclusions to have a racist slant, I'm sorry you feel that way, but you are all wrong.

You all took what I said out of context and made, in my not at all humble opinion, an unreasonable assumption.

Ok, seems fair enough, let's nip over to the Killarney Fight Club thread - it looks like a lot more fun over there, and there may even be some ducks.
