Good morning Smile

Does anyone know what direction the BB on the drive side normally unscrews on a MTB? I've been battling for 1.5 hours now with 2 trips to the builders whorehouse to get a tool to give me more leverage and it just doesn't want to budge AngryAngryAngryAngry

It should be anti clock wise, but go to shimano.com and download the manual. Use some penetrating oil and do not put to much leaverage that will only break the frame or bb .

Thanks guys, that was my understanding (clockwise). Flippin' thing is mega-tight. I've sprayed some oil and see what happens. Thanks again! Thumbs%20Up

Piernas, when you put it back in, lubricate the shell and the BB and/or use some Plumber's Tape around the threading, it prevents creaking and noise and is an excellent sealant. That way it does not have to be overtightened.

Thanks Dylan, I was thinking on doing exactly that. I think my local LBS bicycle shop didn't do the job properly the last time, hence the BB is overtightened.
